Season 1 of Sanctuary tv show highlights the past of Dr. Helen Magnus, informing about a group “The Five”, whose member she had been in her young days. Other members of the group were Dr. James Watson, Nigel Griffin, John Druitt and Nikola Tesla. This small group of people, wanted to extend their knowledge about the physical world through different and unique manners.
It is during this quest that Magnus finds a vial of untainted vampire’s blood and “The Five” inject themselves with it, using it as a serum. Each of these five get a unique gift after the serum gets into them. Nigel Griffin’s molecules become photosensitive; Magnus gets a long life and protection against diseases, John Druitt gains the ability of teleport, Dr. James Watson’s mind reaches amazing new peaks and Nikola Tesla becomes a Vampire due to the serum getting on with Nikola’s DNA.
Watson and Druitt both live a long life, even crossing the century mark but not as long as Dr. Magnus do.
In the half- way of the first season “The Cabal” appear on the picture. The Cabal claims to be a powerful shadow organization that believes that Abormals are threat to the human race; hence they capture, experiment and conduct study on abnormal population.
In the Last episode “Revelations”, the Cabal’s release a biological weapon, Lazarus that incites Abnormals to become ferociously violent, as they assault everyone near them, it results in their own painful death. This is actually The Cabal’s plan to turn humans against Abnormals and finish the complete abnormal population which will further grant more power to human species
